I'm curious to know if there is a command to clear the clipboard while still working within Illustrator. I work in large files and when I do a copy or cut, the file sits on the clipboard and slows down other functions such as switching between programs, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated? Thanks.

Michael,

What OS are you using? Check on versiontracker for Clear Clipboard. What I have is an Apple Script that someone posted a couple of years ago that still works in OS9.2.2. It works fine and should be placeable in the Scripts folder in AI.

BGH,

I can't tell you as it is marked run-only which means you can't view it in the ScriptEditor. It works fine though and was freeware. The only info is that it is version 1.5 and by Mako. I just checked VersionTracker and it's still available.

Michael-

My fix doesn't clear the clipboard, but what I usually do to bypass this problem is select a small, insignificant object (sometimes I just draw a small circle), and then copy that. That way, the small item is the last item to be in the clipboard.

It would be nice to purge clipboard, as in Photoshop.
