When I place an .eps file in InDesign, the placed art has a white background. If I copy the .eps file from Illustrator then paste in InDesign it does not have the white background. This is the same when I try to email an .eps, the recipient says the sent file has a white background. How am I to save these files? I never had this problem in past Illustrators. (I'm running Illustrator CS on system 10.3 on a G5)

Sounds like the preview saved with the Illustrator.eps file is a Mac preview. If you turn on overprint preview in ID the white should go away. Even if you don't, it should print out OK.

You can also save a tiff preview and check the transparent radio button, and the background will display clear in ID even without overprint preview.
