Hello, is there any way to open native Freehand 10 documents in Illustrator CS2 (OS X 10.4.8 /PPC) if there is no possibility to save them as FH9 or eps first? Are there any external converters available? Thanks for help!

Have you tried making a copy of the original file, changing the file extension to .eps, then opening this new file with Illustrator? (This has worked in the past for me - but since I currently have no FH10 files to experiment with, I can't recall if it was for FH9 and below.)

I tried this but unfortunately it doesn´t work with Freehand 10 files

export file as FH9 (one of many choices) or save as 'editable EPS'

But the original question said "if there is no possibility to save them as FH9 or eps first?"

my bad...sorry I haven't finished my remedial reading course yet.

there is always the possibility to save them as FH9 or eps first
...this is a bit of work--but--it works.
go to adobe.com--download Freehand MX trial--then you have 30 days to open and resave/convert all the files you want to.

Yeah, I wondered about that myself. It seems like the most reliable "external converter" would always be a version of Freehand itself.

A great idea, I will download Freehand MX and convert the files. Thanks a lot!
