Find Font Change All doesn't work in Batch Action

Record a new action step for each Find Font change. In other words... select find font, change one font. Click OK. Select Find Font again, changes the second font, click OK. Repeat for each font that needs changing.

For some reason actions using Find Font record the opening of the dialog and the changes made after the dialog closes. Therefore, the action will not record multiple changes while the dialog window is open, only what's changed when OK is clicked in the dialog.

Another option is to set the Find Font step to allow user interaction and when it pops up, change all your fonts, then clicking continue will simply carry on with your action.

If that is really true, it would mean that Illustrator CS 2 does not act like Illustrator 10. In Illustrator 10 multiple changes in the Find Font dialog are recorded fine and the action does work well, no matter if played back in the current document or in a Batch process.

Another thing is that Jon reported that his action just changed one text object in the Batch process, not one font.

Actually, I did record each Find Font as a separate action. I basically created a set of "building blocks." I then copied the action steps from these building blocks under a new action. So, even though I'm changing 9 fonts, each change is registered as its own unique "Find Font" action.

As a temporary work-around, I ended up duplicating the action steps to try to change more of the objects in one pass. It worked...kind of. It still only changed as many objects as I had action steps for that particular Find Font combination.

Cheers,

Jon
